Top Tips For Teaching Yoga In Schools - Tip #22: Carve Out Time To Create A Master Schedule

Happy Sunday, and welcome back!

I chuckled writing this title because I clearly need to take my own advice and care out time to create a master schedule so I can actually remember to post my blog posts before 10:30pm during the week.

In all seriousness though, it’s a good reminder that giving ourselves grace when we don’t follow through or accomplish what we had hoped in any given day is so important! We can take this advice AND also remember that we are human, and therefore, not perfect.

So, I hope today’s post is helpful for you. If not, as with any piece of advice, you can leave it be.

But please, if you find it helpful, leave a comment so that I know more of what content to feature.

Happy reading!

Tip #23: Carve Out Time to Create A Master Schedule

This time of year, the end of the school year, is always so busy, even in this pandemic world we are living in! Not only are we wrapping up this school year, but many of us are already thinking about next school year, especially if we’re looking to expand our offerings, or move to a new school entirely.

So, if you can, carve out some free time to create a master schedule of dates, times, and deadlines for yourself as you embark on planning your programming for teaching yoga in schools next year.

Put this time on your calendar. Commit to it. Hold it sacred.

Make a list of what still needs to be done (do you need to research grants? create proposals? reach out to principals?), how long you have to do it, how long each task will take, and identify a completion date for each task.

Taking 20-30 minutes now to create a timeline for yourself will help you make sure you are in a position to land your dream job teaching yoga in schools or expand your reach if this is what you’re already doing. It will allow you to commit yourself fully, over time, to planning for next year, and ensure you get it all done well before the next school year starts.

Tip Takeaway: Set aside 20-30 minutes this week to create a master schedule for yourself. Make a list of everything you need to complete to expand or begin your program for next school year. Once you’ve identified each task, figure out when you’d like to accomplish each task by, and how long it will date. Put all deadlines into your phone / planner, and also schedule in work time NOW to ensure you meet your deadline.
